Meet Chef Eran

Chef Eran Salzmann is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and a Certified Executive Chef with the American Culinary Federation.

Eran has cooked in some of the finest kitchens on both sides of the Mississippi River, including:

• As Executive Chef for Biaggis Ristorante Italiano, he managed kitchens in Davenport, Fort Wayne, Salt Lake City and other cities.
• Eran worked 9 years for Fresh Food Concepts, opening restaurants in Scottsdale, Dallas, North Palm Beach, Iowa City.
• Eran mastered large-group cooking and catering at Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa. in Florida.

Since moving back to the Midwest, Eran has been a Chef Instructor at Scott Community College in Davenport, IA.

ZBest Café is Eran's newest endeavor, a labor of culinary love located in the area where he grew up.

Why ZBest?

After years of experience managing and working in large kitchens across the country, Eran decided to bring his skills back home. A native of Mineral, IL, he found a spot on Main Street in Sheffield that interested him.

"I wanted to create a place that was fun, comfortable, served good food... where I can be my own boss. That's why I came up with ZBest. The "Z' is in honor of Zerenna Brandt, my grandmother, who taught me a lot about cooking when I was young."

We use only certified angus beef, all natural pork (no hormones or steroids) and all the locally grown produce we can find, to make you ZBest meal you ever had.
